MrJoNeS Patriot Games build

Postby MrJoNeS » Sun Oct 14, 2012 9:03 pm

Well hello scooterinvasion and welcome to my build thread. My bike started off as a regular bone stock 2009 Honda Ruckus. Over the last several weeks, it has transformed into the beautiful BEAST that it is now. I want to thank Josh(areomyst) at TSG tuning for making this monster build happen! I also want to thank Daniel O. For all of the custom "chopping" and awesome powdercoating work that he performed! Let me tell you, if you are local to the piedmont area, these are the guys you want working on your shiz!!!! Enjoy the photos below and please keep the comments civil.

3 HP at the rear wheel.

Profiling cams on the new engine to be swapped into the Ruckus.

Long rear axle versus the short one.

Exhaust bracket.

Image
Some old Leo Vince bracket Josh had laying around. Looked better than the other one. After making a spacer, it worked pretty well, and allowed better access to the dipstick.

Image
Engine is now in, but wiring harness is still stock and there's plenty of tricks left to go on this thing.

Image
Image
Image
Image
RRGS front end installed, Daniel O and I working on measuring wheel spacing, speedo layout, and finalizing the front suspension install. Note the new wheels! Way better than the mismatched red GY6 wheel and stock Ruck one.

Image
Image
Daniel O. Powdercoated the frame brace and clutch arctic white! Looks awesome! The seat frame, headlight frame, etc, are still being worked on when these pics were taken.

Image
"rough draft" of Daniel's seat frame lowering. Will be coated white soon.

Image
New battery from Moped Motion. Weighs less than half of the stock one, and should be much better overall.

Image
Image
Image
Image
Some pic from installing the front rack, freshly coated CVT cover and headlight mount.

Image
Starting on installing the wiring harness to work with the GY6 engine.

Image
Image
Do you remember where that wire goes?

Image
Manifold base.

Image
The manifold.

Image
A bung was added for the vacuum line to operate the fuel pump.

Image
Here's the fuel pump! It is an OEM pump from a genuine Blur 150. With only slight modifications to the bracket with a file, it fit the stock Ruckus fuel pump mount like a charm!

Image
Image
The engine shroud is modified (plastic cut a bit) to allow the Composimo engine mount and manifold to fit nicely while still using the shroud.

More to come!

Thanks for the kind words! It's great to be able to be a part of this build, and I really like your vision of the bike, and how far it has come since day 1! Hopefully we can get this monster on the road early next week.

Ciao!

~Josh

Clean build!

I'm digging that intake. Where did you find it?

The intake is from overseas and is actually manufactured for a pit bike. It is stock 30mm inside diameter. Thanks for looking and commenting enviromoto!

As for the tranny, it has ncy vario and clutch but nothing done to the gearing quite yet. I still have to get the bike on Josh's dyne and "tune it in" but I think with the gearing that is in it at the moment, it should be close to 65 mph. I don't really need it that much faster but who knows what will come in the future. I am more or less looking for the break neck speed out of the hole and I think 186cc should get me there pretty quickly. Lol

I had some more photos of this build, so I figured I'd share.

Mike added some LEDs to his Ruck. They're really bright at night!

At the track!

Notice the tricked out wheels that Daniel O. powdercoated for this bike.

Pretty nice times for a 175cc 4-stroke. MrJoNeS had really good reaction times. We were using the pro tree.

Seems like Josh told me it was right about 10hp, not sure how much torque... he was killing me off the line when we went to the track...

I'd gladly take the 232cc donation and put it to good use. Lol. J/k. Anyway, it's gonna be a little while before I can delve into another bike project but the 232 is my next plan. This engine is right at 11hp and I believe we synod at just over 9ft/lbs of torque.

Hey guys. This scooter is actually for sale now. I just dont have the time to ride anymore as I have a new baby and new job. I'm asking $5500 for it but am open to offers. I have over $6k in it and the bike has roughly 400 miles since build was finished. If you have any questions, feel free to email me and put scooterinvasion in the subject line. Or I can be reached via text or call 910-783-7027.
