Ok I said I would post the result from running our spree at the strip. We took it along as our second bike to the first round of the NASRA races in IN this weekend. We only made two passes with it... Nick had a a lot of trouble keeping the front wheel on the ground so our 60 ft times were only in the 2.5 range but it still went 9.68 @ 70.3 MPH. I was pretty happy for a bunch of used up AF16 parts we tossed together :D Nick was all smiles after running it.. kept saying "I love this scooter" We might make up some bars and see how fast it can go

Sweet, Glad to hear it ran well for you... that is a cool little scoot...

I took mine to the dyno last Tuesday to test another new pipe I made, and I broke it... lol right after I put the biggest jet in and made a pull, I shut the throttle and it started shaking and rattling real bad.. took the top end off and the skirt had broken off the piston... I guess I manifested it because I was expecting to scatter parts when I got there... It was revving over 12k rpm on the new pipe... new piston should fix it but I cant get a 48mm one by next Saturday...

since that happened, I pulled out my 250cc helix clone and got it set up so I would have Something to ride at the race on the 18th.... after some minor tweaking its making 12ft/lbs of torque and 13hp...also running over 70mph on the dyno... its pretty stout 8)

when I was leaving Josh's that afternoon I asked if he had anything at all that would fit an af16, and he came up with a malossi barrel and piston that has some scoring on the exhaust side but otherwise is serviceable.... Well, I had to make a spacer but I got it put back together last night and since it has much lower exhaust timing than my naraku does, it shouldn't rev so high on the new pipe I made... maybe 10.5--11k. It was doing 11hp at 11k rpm before it blew up...

pics of everything soon..

 yeah, I've been pretty busy... but there are updates! I built a new pipe, actually I'm on my third try now... Using the FOS pipe designer, and the second one I made was much too aggressive and the engine would not get up on it... still made 6 or so hp but would never hit good...and it would rev way too high and I broke the skirt off a piston etc.... this third one is still not exactly right, but the engine can work with it, and it has made 12.7hp @ 10700 rpm on 3 consecutive blocked runs without a cool down in between.... I'm still using the old mystery mikuni 21mm carb too, with immediate plans to upgrade to a 28mm flatslide that someone kindly donated to the cause... :D so I think 15hp is within sight.. the bike has only made one pass since I stretched the frame, and it was a botched run....

I will try and post some pics soon.. I think Josh might even have a short burnout vid, and if he doesn't my buddy Jason does... I'll see what I can come up with..

I have a nice scorpion mid size pipe that I think is the best Dio pipe out there... I could send it to you to get some baseline numbers to compare your progress to... as long as u send it back sometime.. lol

cool, I was about to do that anyway, friend request accepted!...

Man, you already hooked me up with so much... maybe you could just measure the total length from the header flange to the tip, and also from the flange to the start of the diffuser and that would give me a good idea of how close I am... I'm confident the pipe designer works, I just missed by about an inch of header length and it made about a 1k rpm difference in where the power hits... higher!

If you really just want to see what numbers the scorpion pipe makes, I'll be at TnG in October with Josh and some other guys from around here.... I could just get it from you then... that is of course if you're going...

I'm gonna try to have a little four stroke something special fixed up, but I expect my main focus to be the elite...
