Neat Piston Circlip Tool

Postby Areomyst » Wed Mar 23, 2016 6:11 am

Hi guys!

I was browsing the web a while back, and found a pretty neat piston circlip installation tool. Generally, I prefer the clirclips with a tang - a "G" shaped circlip more or less. They're easy to install and only take a second with a pair of needle nose pliers. That said, some of the cylinder kits (and OEM parts too) come with a simple "C" shaped clip. I have always done okay installing those with a little brass pick that I have kicking around the toolbox, or even just using my thumbs (it builds calluses!). There are times thought, where it'd be nice to have an easier and more straightforward tool to get the job done.

Without further ado, check out this circlip tool! It's pretty neat, and if you're doing a lot of engine builds I think it can be worth the investment:

Neat idea and well worth the $44. I can't tell you how many times I've laid on the garage floor with a flashlight searching for a stupid circlip, lol.

But, that is $44 for every size....10mm, 12mm, 15mm...2 stroke, 4 stroke.....
I guess if you work on scooters every day, it would be worth it.....
When I install those clips, I barrow a old sheet from the wife, and use it as a tent, so if they do fly, the flight path is blocked!
