Piaggio Typhoon has no spark!

Postby greg531 » Wed Jun 24, 2015 9:32 pm

I went to fire up my 05 Piggie for the club ride, and it didn't want to turn over very well.
I got it going at high rev's, and it didn't want to idle.
So, I worked on it yesterday, and it didn't have very good spark....it sparked maybe twice, the first time cranking it....It did that a few times, but didn't want to spark any more.....
I replaced about everything, coil, CDI, spark plug, etc....and still, no joy.....replaced the ground, even....
Does anyone have a clue what is wrong?

That's odd. It caused a no-spark situation?

Speaking of oddities (and de-railing this from the topic), one of my clients brought me an Aprilia Mojito with a Morini engine a while back. I fixed it up, installed a Malossi cylinder, tuned it on the dyno, etc... He rode the bike, and was over the top happy with it - but he says he gets an electrical shock through the brake handles when first taking off in the morning. I've never heard of that in all my years wrenching on scooters... The bike is far away from me, but I'd like to get it back and solve that problem.

When you unplug the 4 prong wiring from the stator, it would start on the battery, I have a friend with a pin puller, and start pulling the wires one at a time, til we found that the green wire was causing all the problems, and tracked it down to the brake light switch.
You do have to pull on the brakes to get it started, so that switch does more functions than the brake lights....
